Though we can’t all be huge stars like Dolly Parton or Frank Sinatra, that doesn’t mean we can’t eat like them! Over the years, tons of our favorite celebs have revealed what dishes they like to make when they hit the kitchen.

You might assume all the famous folks’ names below relied on hired help for their meals, but they aren’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get messy when a craving strikes. It’s so fun to think about them taking the time to really perfect the recipe or having it passed down to them from their family members. Somehow, knowing what they like to whip up makes them just a bit more relatable! It almost feels like they’re in the room with u,s enjoying every bite just as much as we are.

1. John Wayne’s Cheese Casserole



2 cans drained green chiles

1 lb. coarsely grated Monterey jack cheese

1 lb. coarsely grated cheddar cheese

4 egg whites

4 egg yolks

2/3 cup canned evaporated milk

1 Tbsp. flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

2 medium sliced tomatoes


McCall’s Great American Recipe Card Collection explains that you should first preheat your oven to 325 F, thentake the seeds out of the chiles and dice them. Combine the cheese and chiles in a large bowl and then pour into a buttered casserole pan.

Next, slowly mix the egg whites until they form puffy, stiff peaks.In a separate bowl, mixthe yolks, milk, flour, and salt and pepper to taste, then fold carefully into the egg whites. Pour over the cheese and use a fork tofully combine the mixture.

Bake for 30 minutes, add the sliced tomatoes on top, then bake for another 30 minutes.

2. Elizabeth Taylor’s Steamed Wine Chicken



3 lbs.chicken pieces

4 Tbsps. olive oil

1 small sliced onion

1 clove minced garlic

2 bay leaves

2 Tbsps. fresh parsley, minced

14 tsp. salt

2 dashes black pepper

1 cup dry Sauterne wine


Taylor laid out this simple recipe in her part-novel, part-cookbookElizabeth Takes Off. Simply start by browning the chicken pieces in a dutch oven, then combine and pour the rest of your ingredients on top.

Cover and allow to simmer for roughly one hour or until the chicken is tender.

3. Joan Crawford’s Pork Chops



6 loin 1-inch thick pork chops

1/4lb. butter

2 large slicedred onions

1 cup flour

Seasoning salt to taste


In one of her contributions toVogue magazine, Crawford shared her favorite savory pork recipe. Start by salting the chops on each side and coat lightly with flour.Place them in a buttered skillet and add onions on top. Cook both sides until golden brown and preheat your oven to 250 F.

Cover the skillet and put into the oven for about 15 minutes, then lower the heat to 200 Fand allow to cook for another 25 minutes.

4. Rock Hudson’s Cannolis



3lbs. ricotta

1-3/4 cups confectioners sugar

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

2 Tbsps. chopped citron

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

4 cups flour

1 Tbsp. sugar

1/4tsp. additional cinnamon

3/4cup Italian red wine


As described inThe Dead Celebrity Cookbook, the hunky actor would start by beating the ricotta in a large bowl with an electric mixer for about one minute. Add the confectioner’s sugar and continue to beat until light and creamy, then add cinnamon, chopped citron, and chocolate chips until totally combined and pop it in the fridge to chill.

For the shells, sift flour, sugar, and additional cinnamon into a large bowl, then add wine and mix until combined. Knead the dough on a floured countertop for about 15 minutes or until smooth and stiff. Cover and allow to cool down forabout two hours.

When the dough is ready, roll out onto flour as thin as you can make it and cut 5-inch circles. Wrap the circles loosely over cannoli tubes and seal with an egg wash. Deep fry two at a time for about a minute each or until light brown. Remove and place them on a paper towel and allow time to cool before filling with ricotta mixture.

5. Katharine Hepburn’s Brownies



2 squares (or 1 oz.) unsweetened bakers chocolate

1 stick unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/4 cup flour

1/4 tsp. salt

1 cup chopped walnuts


Also found inThe Dead Celebrity Cookbook, Hepburnwould melt the chocolate and butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, then remove it from the stove and stirin the sugar.

Next, add the eggs and vanilla and beat until fully combined. Mix in the flour, salt, and walnuts, and pour into a buttered baking pan. Bake at 325 Ffor 40 minutes.

6. Frank Sinatra’s Eggplant Parmigiana


Eggplant Ingredients:

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1 medium peeled and cut crosswise eggplant

1 beaten egg

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup (or 1 1/2 oz.) grated Parmesan cheese

6 oz. mozzarella cheese

Tomato Sauce Ingredients:

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup chopped celery

1 clove minced garlic

2 Tbsps. vegetable oil

1 can chopped tomatoes

1/3 cup tomato paste

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. black pepper

1 tsp. parsley flakes

1/2 tsp. dried oregano

1 bay leaf


The crooner was famous for two things his impeccable pipes and his take on this classic Italian dish that’s been passed down over the years, most recently in an issue ofVanity Fair.

For the sauce, simply combine all of the ingredients in a large pot over heat and allow to simmer over low heat.

While that’s cooking, combine the flour and salt in a bowl and dip your egg-washed eggplants to coat with flour. Place in a skillet and saut each side in hot oil until brown. Drain the excess oil with paper towels andline the bottom of a baking dish with the veggies.

Sprinkle the cheeses on top, saving some of the mozzarella for later, and cover with half of your sauce. Place triangle chunks of the remaining mozzarella on top and repeat the layers with the rest of your eggplant. Bake at 400 Ffor 15-20 minutes.

7. Johnny Cash’s Family Style Chili



5lbs. sirloin steak

1 Tbsp. olive oil

1 package chili seasoning

1 tsp. chili con carne seasoning

Chili powder to taste

Cumin to taste

1 chopped white onion

1 can whole tomatoes

1/3 can tomato paste

4 oz. can chopped chili peppers

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. chopped sage

1 tsp. chopped thyme

1can kidney beans

3/4 Tbsp.sugar

Salt and pepper to taste


The “Man in Black” spilled the beans on this meaty dish for theUSO of Pioneer Valley Celebrity Cookbook back in the day. Heat the oil in a large pot and chop up your steak into hearty squares, then heatin a pan. Add chili seasoning, chili con carne seasoning, chili powder, and cumin.

After about five minutes of simmering, transfer to the large pot and add the remaining ingredients. Cook at a medium heat for about 20 minutes, adding water if it becomes too thick.

8. Loretta Lynn’s Chicken And Dumplin’s



1 large chicken

3 crushed cloves of garlic

Salt and pepper to taste

3 cups self-rising flour

1 tsp. salt

1 cup water

1 beaten egg

6-8 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup cream

1 Tbsp. cornstarch


Lynn shared herfamily recipethis year while promoting her new Christmas album with a delightful advent calendar. Start by boiling your chicken in a large pot with the garlic and water for about two hours, adding water as needed. Save the broth after draining to use later. Cut the chicken into pieces.

Grab a large bowl and sift flour and salt together, then slowly add the cup of water and stir in the egg. Knead the dough and roll out onto floured countertop, then slice into strips.

Boil the chicken broth and drop in the dough, cover the pot, and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes. Add the chicken and cream to the pot and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.

Use the cornstarch to thicken if needed.

9. Dolly Parton’s Skillet Cornbread



2 tsps. bacon drippings

2 cups self-rising cornmeal

1 tsp. salt

1 – 1 1/2 cups buttermilk


Another country queen shared her recipe over on the Dollywood Facebook account.Preheat your oven to 425 F and line your cast iron skillet with some bacon grease.

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt, and some more bacon grease. Slowly add buttermilk and stir until the batter is smooth. Pour into your hot skillet and bake until it springs back when you tap it, which should be about 25 minutes.

10. Carol Burnett’s Raspberry Riches


Batter Ingredients:

1 cup flour, sifted

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

1 egg

1/3 cup buttermilk

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsalted butter

1 1/4 cups fresh red raspberries

Sugar Crumb Topping Ingredients:

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

1 1/2 tsps. semisweet chocolate, grated

2 Tbsps. flour


There’s nothing funny about this delicious dessert Burnett has shared in celebrity compilations over the years. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and grease your baking pan with butter.

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, beat the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract together until fully combined. Stir in melted butterfollowed by the dry ingredients. Beat until it’s smooth again and pour it into the pan, then top with your raspberries.

Use a food processor to combine the ingredients for the sugar crumb topping and add on top of the fruit. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until browned. Allow to cool before serving.

11. Aretha Franklin’s Glazed Ham



Half a ham


5 cups brown sugar

5 Tbsps. yellow mustard

1 cup ginger ale

1 cup pineapple juice

Shredded coconut

Small can of pineapple rings

Small jar of drained maraschino cherries


The soul singer recently shared her family’s recipe with talk show hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan. Start by slicing off the fat from your ham and insert cloves in the scored sections. Place in the oven on a low heat for about 20-25 minutes to let it sweat.

Take it out and allow it to cool while you mix brown sugar, mustard, ginger ale, and pineapple juice and then pour over the ham. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 400 Funtil it’s crisp, basting it every 20-25 minutes.

Sprinkle coconut on top and add pineapple rings and maraschino cherries with toothpicks.
